Chickpea and kumara puree
Try this easy vegetarian baby food recipe using canned chickpeas.
Ingredients
- - 1 kūmara
- - 1 can chickpeas
- - Breast milk or formula
Method
- 1. Peel and chop the kūmara into one centimetre pieces.
- 2. Drain the chickpeas and rinse well.
- 3. Cook chickpeas and kūmara in boiling water until soft.
- 4. Mash or purée in a food processor or blender.
- 5. Stir through enough breast milk or formula to make a smooth purée.
- 6. Freeze leftover cooled purée in ice cube trays.
