Build an obstacle course

This fun indoor kids game using furniture and other household items is great for a rainy day.

To make an obstacle course, clear a large space in the room or area you want to use (hallways work well). Set up your obstacle course using different items from around the house and take turns having a go. You might like to make it interesting by doing the course to music or timing yourself. Walking (not running) obstacle courses are best for indoors.

Different examples of ways you can use household items and furniture include:

  • a table makes a tunnel to crawl through
  • small mat to jump over
  • large chair upside down to crawl under
  • long thin piece of material laid on the ground to tight-rope walk on
  • plastic containers set up to zig-zag in and out of
  • blanket to crawl under.
