Rotokare Scenic Reserve, Eltham
This pest free sanctuary is well worth the trip out east from Eltham.
Make your way through the double gates to a tranquil lake and bush reserve. Kiwi, saddleback, tui, ruru, fantail and bell birds are all evident throughout the reserve. Take a 1 hour leisurely walk around the lake or hike the more strenuous 2.5 hour ridgeline track. Donations for the upkeep of facilities and conservation work are appreciated.
